The Bearcat F8F (Kit from Balsacraft)

Bearcat F8F

Model construction: 2003
Features of the model:
Wingspan: 1.15 m
Weight: 1.4 Kg
Motor: Velkom 2410 live
Propeller: Graupner SlimProp 8×4
Autonomy: 5-6 minutes

The construction of this Kit from Balsacraft has no difficulty. The adjustments are precise and the assembly well thought out. The use of Cyano glue, a silk covered and a Humbroll paint passed with an airbrush allows to obtain the announced weight.

Take-off:
It is always useful to have a good launcher but the exercise is easy thanks to the two holding holes under the wings and the plane leaves straight.

In flight:
The engine power is largely sufficient and allows a flight to 3/4 of the gas. The speed is quite high and the aerobatics realistic. The plane can be slowed down without risk and refuses to stall at the center of gravity given by the drawing (just a few ripples). Beware, however, of dynamic stall, the wing loading is not negligible.

Landing:
No major difficulty, except that it lengthens quite a bit. Be careful to keep it perfectly horizontal to avoid touching a wing.
