The Dewoitine 520 (inset plan of Laurent Buyssine in MVM magazine)

Dewoitine 520

Model construction: 1999
Features of the model:
Wingspan: 1.35 m
Weight: 2.3 Kg
Motor: OS 40FP
Propeller: Graupner 10.5×6

Takeoff:

The design of this aircraft is interesting (Laurent Buyssine’s plan from the magazine MVM), indeed half-shell construction is particularly lightweight and strong. The downside is the amount of work to be done to complete this achievement.

Takeoff:
Takeoff is classic, you just have to maintain a slight nose-up action in the first meters of taxiing then give up gradually. The power is sufficient with OS 40 but not excess.

In flight:
Regarding theft, I have little to say about it. Indeed, my construction was not in favor of a low wing load, so the test flights ended badly. After analysis, this is due, on the one hand, to the excessively high wing load, to the deflection of the ailerons probably too great and certainly (above all) also to my ability to control everything.

Landing:
I haven’t had a chance to test.
